Mentorship Application Documents

Thank you for your interest in the Mentorship Program with Beyond Interpreting! Below are links and other documents needed for your application. Once completed, please send documents to the Mentorship Coordinator, Mindy Johnson at mindyjohnsonbi@gmail.com.

We recommend using Genius Scan, a free app, to scan your documents. Another app that we reccomend is Adobe Fill & Sign which allows you to fill out and sign documents and paperwork directly from your phone - no printing required!

Documents should be submitted in one email with all the documents and files attached. Please do not send documents back as one file. Each document must be saved separately, preferably as a PDF. If you must send more than one email, please send them on the same day. Incomplete applications packets will not be reviewed until all components are received. DO NOT MAIL IN YOUR APPLICATION.

Please allow adequate time for application processing.  Applications must be received prior to the start of the semester.  Beyond Interpreting may only accept up to TWO interpreting students per semester.

  3. Two Letters of Recommendation

    • One letter should be written by an ITP professor, instructor, tutor, or someone who is related to the Interpreting profession or Deaf Community.

  4. samples of your work interpreting from ASL to English and from English to ASL.

    • Videos should be a minimum of 5 minutes long. Please send video files or links to videos in application email

  5. Copy of Intern/Practicum Certificate from mcdhh

  6. Color Copy of Photo ID (Front/Back)

  7. Copy of Social Security Card

  8. Copy of Current Auto Insurance

  9. Copy of course syllabus, requirements, and other course materials

Please Note:
The amount of Mentorship hours you can receive is strongly dependant on your availability and motivation.  We will do our best to accomodate you so that you can be successful. Please communicate any scheduling needs that you have to your Mentor.  If your availability is limited, you may not be able to complete your practicum/internship requirements.

Due to the amount of time we invest in our interpreting students and the potential for conflicts of interest, we do not accept students who have an active practicum or internship with any other Interpreting Agency.
