Community Interpreter Job Description

The role of a Community Interpreter is to provide equal access to communication for all parties involved. The interpreter accepts responsibility for knowledge of and adherence to the ethics of interpreting and the role of the interpreter, in addition to the maintenance of proper credentialing.  It is expected that you represent Beyond Interpreting in a positive light, and provide exemplary customer service at all times.

Duties and Expectations

  • Adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct

  • Maintains proper certification, credentialing and licensure

  • Update calendar availability

  • Responds to job requests in a timely manner

  • Closes interpreting assignments within 48 hours of the scheduled end time

  • Must allow adequate travel time to avoid tardiness to the scheduled assignment


  • Possess current interpreter certification

  • License with the Missouri Professional Registry of Interpreting

  • All interpreters must stay up-to-date and current on your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to maintain proper certification with the State and employment with Beyond Interpreting.

  • Have access to the internet and able to use a personal email address through Google Gmail

  • Possess a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance or state-issued identification; and

  • Fulfill the requirements of the Background Screening Policy.  All interpreters must pass a FBI Fingerprint Background Check and a Drug Screen Panel.
